In 1980, after 20 years of hand binding, Richard Harsher took ‘The Binding House’ from Bishops Sutton in Hampshire and moved it into a 1,500 sq. ft. industrial unit in Winnall, Winchester. Within a matter of days the first assembly line of case-binding equipment was operational and Richard Harsher Book Manufacturers commenced serious business.

 |
Coincidental with the move, was the appointment of Paul Quinn as Operations Manager. Paul had served his apprenticeship with Sir Joseph Causton in Eastleigh and brought with him a wealth of experience and a very real talent.
For eight years, operational flexibility, sensible job-costing and genuine enthusiasm proved to be the successful elements in establishing Richard Harsher Book Manufacturers as a force to be reckoned with in the Printing World. Whilst others were falling by the wayside, this company continued to thrive.

The next growth objective was reached in 1988 when a superb new 15,000 sq. ft. industrial unit in Romsey, Hampshire, was purchased and the next phase in the company’s history began. Since then there has been more warehousing expansion combined with continued investment year on year in the very latest print finishing and book manufacturing machinery.
The philosophy has not changed. The customer comes first and flexibility competitive but not unreasonable pricing quality control and meeting deadlines, will always be of paramount importance.
Richard Harsher Ltd is a leading force in books and calendars.
